ZuLiFe Bird Gel should provide at least 75% of the birds dry matter intake for iron sensitive species. Other food items offered may include fruit (e.g. papaya, apples, pears, grapes, etc.), vegetables and greens. Avoid feeding bananas because they are high in calories and dry matter content. Avoid food items which may contain high levels of iron (e.g. meat, dog food), and limit citrus fruit (oranges, grapefruit) because they may enhance the uptake of Iron. Always provide birds with a source of fresh, clean water.
Mixing Directions
Mix boiling hot water (over 200o F) and 5ME4 ZuLiFe™ Bird Gel at 3:1 (water wt:product wt) with a spoon for 1 minute or until thoroughly mixed. For more firm product, use a ratio of 3.5:1, for less firm use a ratio of 2.5:1. Do not microwave mixed product.
Spread on flat sheet and refrigerate overnight. If prolonged storage is necessary, store mixed diet in the freezer. Cut into small cubes or strips, whichever the birds prefer. Product may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and in the freezer for up to 1 month. Longer storage in the freezer will not compromise nutritional integrity, but may change physical characteristics (e.g., moisture level).
